One of the best and craziest moments of the college basketball season has given us one of the best and craziest sports photos in recent memory.
After his Illinois team shocked top-ranked Indiana, Illini head coach John Groce was photographed on the court gleefully celebrating with his shirtless son Conner. If any picture is going to capture “thrill of victory,” it’s this one.
And Groce had reason to be so amped up. Not only did the Illini knock off the No. 1 team in the country, they did so on a layup with 0.9 seconds left and also ended a crippling three-game losing streak.
Sports and the emotions it causes can be beautiful sometimes.
