Adidas is seemingly not missing out on any opportunity to provide Wisconsin and Nebraska with alternate uniforms whenever the two programs meet in Big Ten play in a major sport.
The Badgers and Huskers wore old-school, alternate uniforms when they met on the football field on Sept. 29. Now, the schools’ basketball teams are getting uniform makeovers as well, starting with their 4:30 PM ET matchup on Sunday afternoon.
A press release from UWBadgers.com describes the new look:
“Similar to the adidas jerseys worn by NBA teams on Christmas day, both team’s uniforms on Sunday will feature a solid color blocking of team logos, word marks and numbers with minimal accent color and shimmer finish for a bold on-court look. UW’s uniform will be completely white uniform with white lettering and numbers accented by red trim. The Huskers will wear a red-on-red variation.”
The minimalist look is meant to evoke what the NBA teams who played on Christmas day wore. It’s all well and good but doesn’t really blow us away. Grade: B-
