The Houston Cougars football team plans to play their final season at Robertson Stadium in style.
After the school’s athletic department unveiled new logos in April, the football team introduced a redesigned football helmet on Monday — the most substantial change among several updates to the Cougars’ game day ensemble.
The helmet is a deeper color red than what was worn last season, and the shading used for the interlocking “UH” makes the lettering pop more than the one-dimensional look from seasons past.
The jerseys will also look different, with a more prominent “Houston” across the front and a patch that commemorates the team’s 71st and final season at Robertson Stadium.
While the new look is OK, we would have much preferred a throwback lid like the ones David Klinger and Andre Ware wore. Grade: C+
