If Virginia Tech’s Antone Exum had used the $470 Best Buy gift card he received for competing in Friday’s Russell Athletic Bowl on a new home theater system, an Xbox or the like, no one would have blamed him. Instead, he decided to be charitable.
Exum treated two brothers and a cousin visiting Orlando (the site of the bowl game) from the Bahamas to a Christmas shopping spree.

The three kids took home a PlayStation 3, some controllers, video games and a Blackberry. The total came to slightly over $500, with Exum’s teammates Tariq Edwards and Marcus Davis covering the difference between that and the value of Exum’s card.
If Exum stars in the Russell Athletic Bowl on Friday, consider it karma.
