Two big events involving Maryland athletics took place on Saturday. On a serious note, the school is now in talks to join the Big Ten Conference. On the less serious side, the school’s @UofMaryland Twitter feed was hacked.
Four since-deleted tweets sent out from the account in a 12-minute span pertained to the Terps’ potential new home in hilarious fashion:
- “New Road Trips!”
- “Goodbye, Carolina Bias!” (in reference to how conference rivals purportedly feel that the league is centered on Duke, UNC and NC State)
- “Men’s Basketball Championship will be in a real city. So long, Greensboro.”
- “Terps in Rose Bowl!”
While we loved the tweets, judging by Maryland’s woeful 4-7 football season, it could be awhile until the Terps reach Pasadena.
