Former NC State star Tom Gugliotta hasn’t been heard from by the general public since he retired from the NBA in 2005.
That is, until Saturday’s Wolfpack game against Florida State when his frustration with the referees boiled over and he along with fellow NC State player Chris Corchiani were ejected from the contest in Raleigh with their alma mater getting roughed up by the Seminoles.
After the three exchanged words, official Karl Hess motioned for them to be ejected and had a security guard escort “Googs” and Corchiani from the stands to a huge ovation from Wolfpack fans.
Corchiani tweeted after the game that Hess “didn’t like fact Googs (and) I told him he was having a bad day, inconsistent, (and) telling the truth.”
Considering NC State choked away a huge lead to Duke on Thursday and followed it up with a lame duck effort against FSU on Saturday in a 76-62 loss, it’s nice to see someone putting up a fight for the team – too bad it was two ex-players in street clothes.
