Four days after Manti Te’o conducted his first interview following the revelation of the fake girlfriend hoax, Diane O’Meara did the same.
O’Meara — the California woman whose photos passed as Lennay Kekua — spoke with NBC’s Miguel Almaguer for a taped segment that ran on Tuesday’s edition of “The Today Show.”
“It’s very bizarre and it’s a very twisted and confusing scenario,” O’Meara told Almaguer. “I’ve never met Manti Te’o in my entire life. I’ve never spoken with him, exchanged words or tweets.”
Any anger O’Meara holds is directed not at Te’o but the alleged perpetrator of the hoax, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, with whom she was high school classmates and Facebook friends.
“The past five years he’s been literally stalking my Facebook and stealing my photos,” O’Meara said. “Ronaiah has called and not only confessed but also apologized. I don’t think there is anything he could say to me that would fix this.”
O’Meara will appear on “The Today Show” again on Wednesday for a live interview that could add yet another twist to this already outrageous story.
