How often do you hear about a basketball game resuming after a weather delay?
If Florida and Georgetown have their way, that could be the case. The teams’ Carrier Classic matchup on Nov. 9 aboard the USS Bataan in Jacksonville was suspended when condensation made the court unplayable after halftime and UF leading, 27-23. But the Gators have reached out to the Hoyas in an effort to resume the game.
“Our school is in favor of making this happen,” Florida’s Billy Donavan told the Palm Beach Post. “I know there’s a phone call in to discuss the possibility of finishing the game.”
Donovan’s counterpart at Georgetown, John Thompson III, expressed a similar sentiment to reporters following his team’s game against Indiana last Tuesday.
We’re guessing the matchup would resume indoors after the debacle earlier this month.
