Alabama head football coach Nick Saban wasn’t always the surly, don’t-cross-him-if-your-life-depended-on-it authority figure he is now. At least he didn’t always look that way.
On Thursday, a Redditor on the CFB page posted a photo of a young Saban (middle picture below) when he was a defensive assistant at Michigan State in the 1980s. With the goofy smile, the tousled hair and (most notably) the dorky oversized glasses, we dare say he looks like the college football equivalent of Dwight Schrute from “The Office.”
Upon further investigation, this photo was a screenshot taken from the Spartans’ post-victory locker room fray after their 20–17 triumph over USC in the 1988 Rose Bowl. Look how genuinely happy Saban looks!
Oh, to be young and something other than smug in victory…
