It’s a proud week to be an Arkansas Razorback. Not only did the school unveil new uniforms and helmets on Wednesday that have been well received, incoming linebacker recruit Vin Ascolese tweeted a rousing poem on Tuesday about what it means to be a Hog.
Tweeted the two-star linebacker from New Jersey: “Razorback nation Read this ! It’s a sonnet I wrote about what it meens to be a Razorback and what a razorback is! WPS ! pic.twitter.com/QEpznkjm”
OK, so it’s not actually a sonnet but we think Ascolese’s poem made his dedication to Arkansas clear with lines like “Cause you see, a Razorback is a player who is ruthless, who won’t think twice about ending the competition’s life on that field” and “A Razorback is someone who has balls of steel.”
Ascolese isn’t exactly the next Walt Whitman and the poem reminds us a little of Billy Madison’s speech on the Industrial Revolution. But considering how zany interim head coach John L. Smith is, we wouldn’t be surprised to see this become Arkansas’ version of “Play like a champion today” this fall.
