Jacob Hester was released in August following four years with the San Diego Chargers as a fullback and reliable special teamer. He’ll eventually fight his was back on an NFL roster. Just as he fought to become a key contributor at LSU.
The Shreveport native spent his first three seasons contributing at running back, fullback and on special teams and became a Bayou Bengals cult hero. It was as a senior, when he also served as team captain, that he left his biggest mark.
Hester rushed for 1,103 yards on the season and scored 12 touchdowns despite being part of a five-man running back rotation. He also ended his college career with a bang, running for 86 yards and a touchdown in LSU’s 38–21 victory over Ohio State in the 2007 BCS title game.
