During Ohio State week in 1986, Jim Harbaugh told the media, “We’re gonna play in the Rose Bowl this year, I guarantee it. We’ll beat Ohio State and we’ll be in Pasadena on January 1st.” According to Harbaugh, the next time Bo Schembechler spoke to his team he said, “’Well, at least I know our quarterback thinks we can win. Rally around him. Let’s go to Columbus and beat the Buckeyes.” That’s exactly what Michigan did, winning 26-24. Thomas Wilcher, who scored the eventual game winner, coaches high school football in Detroit. Could Harbaugh be returning to the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry next year? Stay tuned.
