FCS Cornerback Suffers Ugly Finger Injury

[WARNING: The picture and video below is very graphic in nature and not for the faint of heart.]

From an injury standpoint, the football gods have not been kind to FCS teams over the past two weeks.

Last Saturday, UPenn QB Billy Ragone suffered a gruesome ankle injury in his team’s win over Harvard. He now has another football player he can exchange scar stories with in Georgia Southern CB Valdon Cooper.

In the first quarter of the Eagles’ 45–14 loss at Georgia, Cooper made a diving interception attempt of Bulldogs QB Aaron Murray. Upon rising from the turf, the middle finger of Cooper’s right hand was bent sideways at almost a 90-degree angle.

The shocking thing is that Cooper seemed more annoyed at his mangled finger than he was in pain over it. That’s painful for us just to look at.
