Fake FG vs. UF Keeps ’10 LSU Unbeaten

As infuriating as his Mad Matter ways can be to LSU fans, Les Miles is often rewarded for his gambles. Because more often than not his opponents never see them coming.

In 2010, with his No. 12 and 5–0 Tigers trailing Florida in The Swamp, 29–26, with 35 seconds remaining, Miles trotted Josh Jasper out for a game-tying, 52-yard field goal. Or so the Gators thought.

Upon receiving the snap, holder Derek Helton threw a no-look pitch over his head to Jasper. The ball bounced, but Jasper was able to scoop it up and run for a key first down.

QB Jarrett Lee would find Terrence Toliver from three yards out with six seconds left to give LSU a dramatic 33–29 win. Jasper, currently an NFL free agent kicker, and others will be watching to see what other madness Miles can conjure up when the Tigers return to Florida Field this Saturday. Josh Jasper profile
