Ex-Sooner Star Harris Arrested in Chicago

Tommie Harris has endured a difficult year. Now he has a rap sheet to deal with.

The former Oklahoma star defensive tackle, who last played in the NFL with the Chargers in 2011, was arrested in Chicago late Monday night and accused of threatening police officers as he was urinating outside a bar.

Harris is charged with misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure, urinating in public and simple assault.

In February, Harris’ wife Ashley died at age 29 after an apparent stroke or brain aneurism, leaving Harris to care for their two young children. On the playing field, knee and hamstring injuries have sidetracked a once promising pro career that includes three Pro Bowl selections (2005-2007) while he was a member of the Chicago Bears.

Harris was a terror on the field with the Sooners, earning First Team All-America and All-Big 12 honors in 2002 and 2003 and wining the Lombardi Award as the nation’s best lineman in ’03. Tommie Harris profile
