Former East Carolina star quarterback Jeff Blake, whose 14-year NFL career ended with the Chicago Bears in 2005, is currently working for The Axiom Group—an Austin-based market research firm that counts P&G, Rubbermaid, General Mills and Toro among its clients.
Blake’s LinkedIn profile says that he started with Axiom in January 2010.
Understandably absent from Blake’s profile is his tenure as director of athlete services at Triton Financial, an investment firm also based in Austin. The firm was sued in a civil action by the SEC in December 2009 for defrauding investors in a multimillion-dollar insurance scam.
Blake, whose ECU career was highlighted by a 1991 season in which the Pirates went 11–1, has passed along his football genes to his son Emory. The younger Blake, a rising senior wide receiver, was a key component of Auburn’s 2010 BCS title-winning team.
