Darnell Wilks’ basketball career at Cincinnati wasn’t statistically mind-blowing, but his high-flying antics for the Bearcats — he was a semifinalist in the 2011 College Slam Dunk Championship — were enough to draw the interest of the Harlem Globetrotters, who drafted him in June 2011.
A year and a half later, Wilks is still a Globetrotter and flying high – not to mention dodging falling glass from shattered backboards.
During the team’s mid-November stop in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Wilks (a.k.a. “Spider”) went up for a dunk and obliterated the backboard in a fashion that would make Shaq envious. It goes down — literally and figuratively — at the 12-second mark of the video below.
