When former Auburn running back Stephen Davis sued the NFL in July for concussions he sustained, he told Nathan Fenno of The Washington Times that he was suffering from short-term memory loss, including forgetting to pay his bills.
It could be the three-time Pro Bowler’s best defense after he was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly failing to pay taxes on PURE, a nightclub that Davis owns in Columbia, SC.
The 38-year-old Davis, who last played in the NFL with the Rams in 2006, was charged with operating a business without a license and three counts of writing fraudulent checks.
Before becoming an 11-year workhorse in the NFL, Davis twice earned All-SEC honors with Auburn. As a freshman, he was part of the 1993 Tigers team that went 11–0 and finished No. 4 in the AP Poll. Stephen Davis profile
