Two days after it was officially announced that Erin Andrews would not be returning to ESPN, word came down Sunday that America’s most famous sideline reporter has signed with FOX Sports.
Said FOX in a press release: “Erin Andrews, one of television’s most popular sports personalities, has rejoined the FOX Sports family.
“Andrews will host FOX’s new prime time college football pregame show and will make significant contributions to the network’s NFL and MLB coverage, along with other sports properties, as part of a multiyear deal announced by FOX on Sunday.”
Andrews has been with ESPN since 2004 but her contract expired on Sunday. She originally worked at FOX Sports Florida in 2000 as a freelancer after graduating from the University of Florida. Andrews, 34, has become a full-fledged celebrity following a peeping Tom video hit the internet in 2008 and a third-place finish on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” in 2010.
Our Jim Weber recently explained why Andrews leaving ESPN for FOX makes sense for all three parties and speculated that Andrews will be FOX’s No. 2 sideline reporter for NFL coverage behind Pam Oliver.
We shall see how it all plays out.
