A year after redoing its uniforms, Eastern Michigan is apparently doing its best Oregon impression with a wild new steel plate helmet.
The college football world first saw these courtesy of EMU tight end Tyreese Russell, who tweeted out a picture of the new lids on Monday night before removing it from his feed. We’re not sure what the Eagles’ brass was thinking — the matte lids they sported last year looked pretty sharp. Why add an alternate helmet that a) Makes the viewer go cross-eyed and b) Will clash with EMU’s uniforms?
This latest foray in EMU’s “Time to Fly” initiative has come crashing back to earth. Grade: D
