Guard Marcus Lewis is averaging a modest 6.1 PPG coming off the bench for Eastern Kentucky. Yet in one fell swoop during Saturday’s road win over Southeast Missouri State, Lewis made his 2012–2013 season an unquestionable success with a prime candidate for Dunk of the Year.
On an inbounds play from beneath the SMSU basket, one of Lewis’ teammates saw him cutting hard from above the 3-point line. Lewis seemed to hang in mid-air at the top of the 3-second lane for about two seconds before extending his right arm Inspector Gadget-style and slamming home an eye-popping alley-oop.
