No college basketball program has more celebrity fans than the Kentucky Wildcats and one of those celebrities recently turned his fandom into a customized 2012 Kentucky national title ring.
Drake, the 25-year-old Canadian rap and R&B star, posted a picture of the ring on Friday with his nickname “Drizzy” on the side to Instagram, although it’s unclear if the university paid for it, head coach John Calipari did or Drake ponied up for it himself.
Either way, it’s the ultimate reward for the celebrity fan from Toronto who became a Wildcats fan during the 2009-10 season while John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins starred for the team. Since then, Drake has become extremely close with Calipari and been seen at Wildcat games in Lexington, joining the likes of Ashley Judd, Jay-Z, John Boehner, Fabolous and LeBron James as star-studded Cats fans.
When other celebrities catch wind of this, we’re guessing the celebrity Kentucky bandwagon will only get bigger.
