Division II Guard Has Dunk for the Ages

Summer means downtime for organized basketball. But not for basketball highlights.

Last summer, Kevin Durant’s now-legendary performance at Rucker Park and the Kobe Bryant-vs.-James Harden duel in L.A.’s Drew League went viral. They can welcome Angelo Sharpless to the Summer Hoops Highlight Club.

Sharpless is a rising senior guard at Division II Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina. On Twitter he goes by the handle @JumpmamL024. After the dunk he pulled during a Ben Wallace Summer Pro-Am game in Richmond this past weekend, it’s fair to say that Sharpless’ Twitter handle is well-earned.

With one man to beat on a fast break to the rim, Sharpless bounced the ball high over his defender’s head, ran around him and slammed it home on the reverse with one hand. When the fans finally settled down (slightly), the PA announcer simply said “Hallelujah!” over and over.

How do Sharpless’ hops compare to those of the players on our list of the Top 10 Dunks of the Year? Feel free to watch each over and over again before reaching a final decision.

Or just watch them both on a loop. It’s the summer. You have to get your hoops highlight fix from somewhere.
