The coaches and players at Division III Concordia College in Moorhead, MN must not have been watching Utah’s premature celebrations nearly cost them a win against BYU earlier this season. Unlike the Utes, the Cobbers didn’t escape with a victory.
Leading Bethel University 14–7 on the final play of the game, Concordia forced what appeared to be a game-winning fumble. Only several Cobbers players ran onto the field before the play was over, resulting in an unsportsmanlike penalty and giving the Royals a single untimed down.
Bethel proceeded to score on a nine-yard passing touchdown then successfully convert a two-point conversion to win, 15–14, on homecoming.
The madness unfolds starting at the 2:24:35 mark of the video below. The Fargo-like accents from the play-by-play announcers is just an added bonus.
