Deion To Coach TX School He Founded

It’s Prime Time again in Dallas!

No, Deion Sanders is not attempting a miraculous comeback with the Cowboys. The former Florida State and NFL star will be the co-head football coach at the aptly-named Prime Prep Academy, a Dallas-area charter school he helped found and fund and which opens its doors this school year.

Sanders’ new coaching gig — which he will share with two former Dallas teammates, Kevin Mathis and George Hegamin — was first reported on Monday by Corbett Smith of the Dallas Morning News.

Smith also reports that Prime Prep will play an eight-game schedule in the University Interscholastic League as a Texas Class 3A school.

It remains to be seen if Prime Prep is as successful as the fictional Briscoe High team Sanders rooted for in Nike’s “Football is Everything” commercial from a few years back. Deion Sanders profile
