The epic rant by Wyoming head coach Dave Christensen on Air Force’s Troy Calhoun on Oct. 13 is going to end up costing the Cowboys’ head man a lot more than just respect.
The Casper Star-Tribune is reporting that Christensen is being suspended for Wyoming’s game against Boise State on Saturday and that he is also being fined $50,000 for the tirade.
“It is important to send the right message to players for their actions,” athletic director Tom Burman said on Monday, according to the paper.
The video of Christensen cussing out Calhoun over the allegation that an Air Force player faked an injury in AFA’s 28-27 win now has over 100,000 views on YouTube and includes highlights such as Christensen calling Calhoun “Mr. F****** Howdy Doody” and “fly boy.”
Christensen will reportedly not be at practice or team facilities all week and the coaching duties will be handled by assistant Pete Kaligis.
Asked if Christensen’s job was in jeopardy, Burman replied, “Not today,” and said Christensen would be Wyoming’s head coach next season. Christensen signed a five-year contract extension in the offseason but is just 1-6 with the Cowboys this fall.
