Much to the sheer terror of SEC offensive coordinators and players, South Carolina man child Jadeveon Clowney will reportedly take the field in 2013 both significantly bigger and faster.
According to ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi, the rising junior — now up to 272 pounds on his 6-foot-6 frame — clocked a mind-boggling 4.5 40-yard dash during recent winter workouts with his Gamecocks teammates. That’s a full three-tenths of a second faster than what Manti Te’o clocked at the NFL combine and a similar time to that of wide receivers.
The formula for “force” is “mass times acceleration.” If reports of Clowney’s 40 time are true, getting hit by him this fall will be even more painful than it was last season.
That’s just scary.
