With all due respect to the members of the men’s basketball team at NAIA William Carey University in Hattiesburg, MS, one of the cheerleaders rooting them on is arguably a better athlete than all of them.
During the Crusaders’ home win over Auburn-Montgomery on Thursday night, Ashlee Arnau pulled off a half-court trick shot that must be seen to be believed. Arnau performed a front handspring, picked the ball up in one motion and sunk it.
It’s worth noting that Arnau is also a forward on WCU’s women’s soccer team and that her miraculous trick shot was surely honed doing flip throw-ins on the pitch. But that doesn’t make it any less spectacular.
Oh, and the Crusaders won, 69–60, to capture the Southern States Athletic Conference west division title.
But the result of the game is surely to be a footnote in history to one of the most awesome trick shots ever.
