Things have gotten especially heated lately in the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry lately between new OSU head coach Urban Meyer lobbing shots up north and UM recruit Logan Tuley-Tillman burning a recruiting letter from the Buckeyes.
But the latest incident is by far the craziest.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers (yes, they are still together) held a concert last Monday at Value City Arena in Columbus – home of the Ohio State basketball team – when drummer Chad Smith decided to end the show with a bang. Growing up near Ann Arbor and known for wearing a Michigan Wolverines hat backward during shows, Smith ended the performance by throwing his drum sticks into the crowd to raucous applause.
But before launching his final drum stick, Smith picked up a microphone, turned his UM hat forward and started singing Michigan’s fight song, “Hail to the Victors” to show his allegiance to “The School Up North.” Smith was naturally met with a chorus of boos and middle fingers.
Needless to say, that might be the last Chili Peppers show in Columbus.
