Oklahoma Legend Ken Pryor, 85, Dies

Oklahoma’s Ken Pryor, an early NCAA Tournament hero, died on Tuesday at the age of 85. Made in a later era, his shot to beat Texas in the national semifinals (pictured) would be played in tournament highlight packages in perpetuity. All it did in 1947 was advance the Sooners to the championship, where they fell to Bob Cousy’s Holy Cross team. Ken Pryor profile

FSU’s Greg Carr Signs With Winnipeg Blue Bombers After Year Away From Game

Florida State’s Greg Carr, the go-to receiver for the Seminoles in 2007 and ’08, has landed north of the border after signing with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Carr finished his career fifth on the school’s all-time receiving yards and receptions list (148 for 2,574) and caught the second-most touchdown passes in school history (29). BC’s Sean Williams To Continue Career In Israel Following Exit From The NBA

The Sean Williams experiment in the NBA ended in January for the former BC Eagle (anyone that can’t beat Stromile Swift for a job should look outside of the country). Wrote ProBasketballTalk.com, “At this stage in his career, Williams just isn’t worth the trouble.” So the 2007 first round pick of the Nets will head to Israel and play with Hapoel Jerusalem. G-town’s Kevin Braswell Staying In Australia

Georgetown’s Kevin Braswell played in just six games last season in Australia but his impact was so great the Burger King NZ Breakers have signed him for 2010. Braswell was credited for providing the spark that kicked the Breakers into a six-game winning streak and a near playoff berth. Michigan’s Tim Biakabutuka (we got it right!) sat down with AnnArbor.com for a quick Q&A about what he’s been up to since his 313 yard game vs. Ohio State in 1995. Michigan’s single-season rushing record holder is a business man now, involved with the Bojangles food chain in Augusta, GA. Ex-Baylor Coach Dave Bliss Speaks On Scandal

Dave Bliss, the disgraced former Baylor coach who tried to cover his own transgressions by accusing a murdered player of selling drugs, is slowly coming back to public view. Now a high school athletic director in Texas, he recently held court during a congregational service near SMU to tell his story related to his firing in 2003. Said Bliss: “The devil likes compromises. He’ll tell you, ‘That’s not so bad,’ or ‘Everybody is doing it.’ ” Um, right. Well, at least Bliss is trying to turn his life around.

USF’s Mike Ford Signs With Argonauts

USF’s Mike Ford apparently likes Toronto a lot. The reigning International Bowl MVP, who was kicked of the Bulls’ team in March, has signed with the Toronto Argonauts to join the practice squad. WRs Roy Hall And Mike Hass Join Nighthawks

The UFL’s Omaha team (yes, the one that signed Maurice Clarett) might start sifting through high school rosters at the rate they’re signing players. The Nighthawks added two more players to their roster: Ohio State’s Roy Hall (pictured), who infamously injured Ted Ginn after his 92-yard kickoff return in the 2007 BCS National Championship Game, and Oregon State’s Mike Hass, the 2005 Fred Biletnikoff Award winner.

Michigan’s Chris Perry Released By UFL’s Sacramento Mountain Lions

It’s been a bad year for Chris Perry. Arrested in April for a fight with a family member, the UFL’s Sacramento Mountain Lions just released Perry, meaning he’ll fade back into obscurity without ever really coming out of it. Perry last played in the NFL in 2008. He was a 2003 Heisman Trophy finalist and a 2004 first round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals. Chris Perry profile

Florida’s Elijah Williams spoke to the Gainesville Sun to talk about his new coaching career. Williams is beginning his second season as the head football coach at Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, FL. Last season his squad went a respectable 6-4. They begin the 2010 season on Sept. 3. Oregon’s Malik Hairston Released In Italy After Back Injury, Stays To Rehab

Oregon’s Malik Hairston has suffered another setback in his basketball career. Italy’s Montepaschi Siena has released Hairston because of a disc problem in his back. He’ll continue to rehab in Italy with the hopes of re-signing with the team. It’s a long fall for Hairston, who promised to “Carmello-ize” Oregon (win a national title as a freshman) before playing a game in Eugene. Malik Hairston profile

Texas Tech’s Graham Harrell is the most talented of Mike Leach’s former quarterbacks, but just like the previous ones, he’s battling the reputation of being a system quarterback. Harrell is currently the third string QB in Green Bay, but last season the Packers used just two quarterbacks. Harrell couldn’t latch onto the Browns or the CFL last season.
