John Calipari doesn’t just convince hip-hop stars to come drop in on his players at Kentucky. He goes to visit them, too.
On Friday night, Calipari was in attendance for one of Jay-Z’s eight highly anticipated shows at the recently opened Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, NY, where Jay-Z’s Nets begin play this season.
Calipari also tweeted this gem: “I told Jay-Z that I might get fined $50k being in HIS locker room tonight. He said “I got you”. #Lafamilia”
Jay-Z was fined $50,000 by the NBA for meeting with Kentucky’s players in their locker room in Newark after they clinched a berth in the 2011 Final Four. It served as the basis for a lyric from the “Watch the Throne” song “N***** in Paris.”
Does Coach Cal know how to do street cool or what?
