Kentucky’s John Calipari has a very camera-friendly personality. Alas, his free throw shooting doesn’t translate over.
During a Wednesday “SportsCenter” segment, Coach Cal was asked by ESPN’s Hannah Storm to shoot a couple free throws. Calipari went cold, shooting only 1-of-4 from the charity stripe while complaining about not enough air being in the ball and wearing a coat and hard shoes – in addition to claiming that he made them when the cameras were off.
It’s worth noting that going back to Calipari’s Memphis days, his teams have traditionally struggled at the free throw line, last year’s national championship squad notwithstanding. Perhaps we now know why.
