Before Reggie Bush came along, the only time you could see a running back reverse field, juke defenders out of their cleats, throw a spin move and accelerate away from would-be tacklers — all in the same play — is when you hit the F and R buttons on a PlayStation controller.
Bush’s 50-yard dash against Fresno State in 2005 was his masterpiece in a USC career filled with “Did you see that?” moments. Streaking down the sideline, Bush stopped on a dime, reversed his field and easily outraced all 11 Bulldogs defenders en route to the end zone.
The electrifying run counted for 50 of Bush’s 513 all-purpose yards in the game, setting a Pac-10 record. Bush turned pro after the season and is entering his seventh NFL season (second with the Dolphins).
A sad footnote to the touchdown run is that as far as the NCAA is concerned, it doesn’t exist. USC vacated all of its 2005 wins and Bush forfeited his Heisman Trophy following an investigation into improper benefits paid to Bush. Reggie Bush profile
