Ohio State officials probably had a grand vision of how things would transpire after unveiling a new athletics logo on Monday — part of a series of new logos for the university.
What they didn’t anticipate, however, were Buckeyes fans decrying the change as “one of the worst rebrandings in recent memory (H/T Luke Zimmerman).”
OSU’s idea of “rebranding” its athletics logo was simply coloring in “Ohio State” so that the lettering is all-black. It’s been widely compared to something a fourth grader could do with a Sharpie or in MS Paint.
That and other forms of backlash have been coming up a lot on Twitter over the last 24 hours.

Is it too late to transfer out of Ohio state? That new logo just isn’t cutting it. #MSPaint

Just watched a guy try to steal a seat on the Metro from a blind guy. Still better than Ohio State’s new logo.

I wasn’t aware redesigning of Ohio State’s logo was even happening. Students paying thousands in tuition deserve a voice! #osunewlogo
