Buckeye Fans Bash New Ohio State Logo

Ohio State officials probably had a grand vision of how things would transpire after unveiling a new athletics logo on Monday — part of a series of new logos for the university.

What they didn’t anticipate, however, were Buckeyes fans decrying the change as “one of the worst rebrandings in recent memory (H/T Luke Zimmerman).”

OSU’s idea of “rebranding” its athletics logo was simply coloring in “Ohio State” so that the lettering is all-black. It’s been widely compared to something a fourth grader could do with a Sharpie or in MS Paint.

That and other forms of backlash have been coming up a lot on Twitter over the last 24 hours.

Meh, I’ll get used to it.

It’ll probably look much better in smaller form on shirts than the old one. The old one always looked second rate in the size usually used on a golf shirt or even on a hat. I just hope they didn’t pay much to the design firm for that. One more thing, what’s up with having the “ST” and “TE” connected? It looks much crisper if there is a gap there. Changed it myself on my MAC in less than 5 minutes and it really does look more professional and I’m anything but in the graphics department.

Every letter in “State” is connected, in both old and new design. Don’t know why.

Umm, it looks exactly the same except the font is now solid black. What’s the big deal?
