Ball St. Players Lift Enchancement Pills?

With a hat tip to Erik Malinowski of Deadspin, Ball State defensive end Jonathan Newsome’s recent troubles with the law were met with a “stiff” punishment.

Newsome, who transferred from Ohio State following the 2010 season, was suspended for the first two games of 2012 after his Monday arrest on charges of marijuana possession.

In addition, he has a court date next week on outstanding charges that he and teammate Toney Williams tried to shoplift “male enhancement pills,” according to Doug Zaleski of The Star Press.

Newsome should be thankful for just a two-game suspension. Especially in comparison to former Memphis basketball player Roburt Sallie, who was allegedly released from a Spanish team in February after he took similar medication.

The real punishment for Newsome and Williams, however, will be the locker room jokes they will face over this report.

    Oh, stfu, and lighten up. I’m Mexican (legally born in the U.S. and a vet), and I thought it was funny.  :p  Political correctness should rank up there with terrorism!

      Rick I too am a Mexican born in the USA and a Combat veteran from Desert Storm, I didn’t think it was funny. I am a little disappointed that you would call political correctness terrorism, there is a huge difference. I am surprised you are ok with anybody putting another race down, after all, didn’t we fight for that not to happen?

          I’m a native american. California actually was Mexico until the Mexican government ceded it to the American Goverment in the 1800′s. Mexican people are actually the original indigenous people of that State.

    Lighten up, This was supposed to to a funny remark. It is so remarkable how whites and Blacks differ so much in  how we percieve what the other is saying. What is a joke or funny remark between two black people is taken by a white person to be degrading or racist and visa-versa. It is remarkable how we have not come very far in society in regards to understanding each others race. I guess it is just easier to be offended and become defensive rather than take the time to educate ourselves about each other.
