Is it possible to tank a season starting with your first-round draft pick? That’s what some Charlotte Bobcats fans are wondering this morning.
At the team’s draft party at The Time Warner Cable Arena on Thursday night, the reaction was less than favorable (to put it lightly) when the team selected Indiana’s Cody Zeller with the fourth overall pick. Fans were incensed that Kansas’ Ben McLemore, Maryland’s Alex Len and Kentucky’s Nerlens Noel were still on the board and Zeller was considered by many draft pundits — among them USA Today’s Steve Kyler — to be a non-Top 10 pick.
Perhaps, as one commenter suggested, the Bobcats are already positioning themselves to take Andrew Wiggins No. 1 overall next year. In addition, another YouTube user, Shawn Elwood, makes a painfully valid point.
