Those magnanimous college football coaches you see strolling along the sidelines every fall Saturday were once gawky high school kids just like you. Case in point: Nebraska’s Bo Pelini.
Pelini wasn’t just a football player at Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, OH. He also played on the Cardinals’ basketball team, and there’s a picture of Pelini rocking the short shorts and tight-fitting jersey to prove it.
Doesn’t Pelini look like he could pass for an extra in Hoosiers? The old-school style jersey and close cropped haircut makes him look like a Jimmy Chitwood clone. Alas, Pelini’s haircut is no match for the ultra-perm that Gene Chizik was rocking in his high school yearbook photo.
