In giving the controversial Westboro Baptist Church a taste of its own medicine on Saturday, some Baylor fans showed that humor and not hate is often one of the best defenses.
The Kansas-based church known for its extreme ideologies spent an hour on Saturday picketing the Kansas State-Baylor game in Waco, decrying what it considered America putting more value in sports than it does in God.
Two of the better signs that Baylor fans/students wrote in return were captured in one photograph. One read “Worst tailgate party ever” while another read “God hates Aggies,” a play on words using the church’s slogan (“God Hates F***”) and making fun of the Bears’ former conference rival, Texas A&M.
Kudos to those two for a tongue-in-cheek response to Westboro Baptist’s hateful messages.
