Badgers’ New Adidas Togs are Old School

The only thing that could make the Nebraska–Wisconsin matchup on Sept. 29 more old school is if the television broadcast were in black and white.

Ten days after the Huskers unveiled a new-but-old-school jersey and helmet design for the game, Wisconsin returned the favor via its Facebook page.

Like Nebraska, the Badgers will be outfitted by adidas TECHFIT, sporting a minimalist jersey with one dominant letter on the chest and the helmet. This is for the inaugural “Unrivaled Game,” an annual matchup of top adidas programs, and is themed “The Quick and the Red.”

While the uniforms and helmet have a throwback look – which we love – it’s not very pleasing to the eye. Grade: B-

    Just like the other reports coming out in the Sports News papers, these Wisconsin uniforms date back to the 60s with the lettering and numbering the same. Old, straight letters & numbers with no modern art lettering at all. As for the shirt & pants and the BIG W, it has got to be the most atrocious and ugliest uniforms we’ve seen in 50 years kind of like the Chicago Bears uni’s which haven’t changed for years. With the tightness of the shirt and pants – it will most definitely make the players look like the ‘PILLSBURY DOUGHBOY’ from the 70s TV ads.  Adidas should modify these uniforms to be CURRENT, with name lettering on the back with names instead of BADGERS, the BIG W on the front to updated lettering of the present, and more. Get in touch with the current decade, like you used to do in the 60s and 70s when Adidas was the top company with current advanced shoes for track, cross country, soccer and more.

    Apparently designing  a new look for uniforms IS rocket science because these idiots sure aren’t capable of making anything decent looking…………….FUGLY!!!!!!!!!

    I remember back in the early 60s when Wisconsin had the white helmets with the “W” on the back of the helmet. I don’t recall if they had anything thing else, but I thought at the time they were pretty cool. I think I was only 13 or 14 years old.

    These are as ugly as the Nebraska uni’s. If they wear these they can call it the UGLY game.

    Wow! Those are ugly. I am a an Oregon Duck fan and it amazes me how many sweet uni’s we come up with and a team can’t even get one alternate right.

    They stole it from the Wabash College “W”, one of the three remaining all-male universities in the USA
