Marcus Ray Podcast:
In The End, Michigan Corner Donovan Warren Had Too Many Reasons To Turn Pro Early

Michigan’s Marcus Ray comments on the early departure of corner Donovan Warren – who he coaches in 2007. Ray says that with a lack of personal and team progress on the field, there wasn’t enough reason to stay for Warren’s senior season (run time is 9:14; transcript is after the jump).

Marcus Ray Podcast: My Story Of ‘97 Team

Michigan’s Marcus Ray previews the book he is working on about the 1997 co-national championship Wolverines, explaining how a fractured lockerroom turned into a cohesive whole and how Lloyd Carr’s “tough love” turned Ray into a man. Run time is 9:18.

Marcus Ray Podcast: Dearth Of Blue Chips

Michigan’s Marcus Ray – the starting safety on UM’s 1997 co-national championship team – is surprised by Michigan’s lack of premiere defensive talent like Wolverine teams of old, on which he started as a seventh-string safety.

Marcus Ray: The Real Ron English

Marcus Ray discusses his friendship with Eastern Michigan coach Ron English.

Ron is actually one of my mentors.

I met him in 2004, the first year I worked the Michigan camp. I worked with the defensive backs.

Marcus Ray: Give UM’s Secondary Time

Marcus Ray breaks down Michigan’s secondary against Notre Dame after allowing Jimmy Clausen to throw for 336 yards.

Marcus Ray: June 10th Mailbag

Q: Hey Marcus, what up?! As a fellow Wolverine from C-Bus – how brutal has it been watching Michigan go 1-7 against Jim Tressel? Are your friends and family ruthless like mine? And is this the year Big Blue will finally beat the Bucks? – Mary Coles

Marcus Ray: Golf, Rich Rodriguez and Lloyd Carr

I have lived a very blessed “life after football” … I decided to get into coaching later in my life because I was involved with other endeavors. I put myself and my family in a stable enough position so I could have the opportunity to GA without the money being an issue. I am very grateful for my opportunity to be a part of the CMU football family. Getting into coaching is tough, and sometimes, finding a GA position is impossible. Life makes you choose between what is “convenient” and what is your “passion”.. Football is my passion. I dont have a problem starting at the bottom and I welcome the challenge. Lloyd Carr would always say, “Expect nothing, blame no one, & do something!” Everything in life is a grind. The harder you work, the more you will appreciate your rise.

Marcus Ray: The Life of a Graduate Assistant

I am entering my second year as the Defensive Graduate Assistant at Central Michigan University. Last season was a success but we did not finish the way we wanted too because we did not win the MAC conference or the Motor City Bowl. Our offense will be potent and very exciting to watch again. Dan LeFevour and Antonio Brown are two of the best players in the country, and they will both have great seasons.
