Video: Leukemia Patient Scores at K-State Spring Game
For a brief, glorious moment on Saturday afternoon, eight-year-old Kaiden Schroder was able to forget all about his battle with acute lymphocytic leukemia - all in front of a Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium crowd full of screaming Kansas State fans.
Taking a handoff from Jake Waters, Schroder followed a convoy of blockers to score on a 30-yard touchdown run during the Wildcats’ spring game, a la Jack Hoffman at Nebraska’s spring game last year.
“That was the highlight of my day,” Waters told the Kansas City Star. “I was in the backfield with him and he was a little wide eyed and nervous. It was something special. I am just so happy coach Snyder let us do that.”
