Video: 1995 Game Raises Mike McQueary Suspicion

Comments

One of the buzzworthy takeaways from Don Van Natta Jr’s recently released ESPN the Magazine profile on former Penn State QB Mike McQueary - a key witness in the PSU sex abuse scandal after he allegedly witnessed Jerry Sandusky raping a 10-year old boy in a campus locker room - was that McQueary allegedly bet on Penn State games while he was at school as part of a debilitating gambling habit.

The allegations cast new suspicions on a touchdown pass that McQueary threw in mop-up duty against Rutgers in 1995. With an 18-point lead an less than a minute remaining, McQueary threw a 42-yard scoring strike to WR Chris Campbell to make the final score 59-34, thus covering the 20-point spread on the game.

Was McQueary ensuring a gambling victory? Or was it just very coincidental?
