Valpo Forward Takes Out Detroit Dunker
We get that a player going up against Detroit’s high-flying dunker, Doug Anderson, would prefer not to be posterized. But surely there’s a better way of guarding against that than what one Valparaiso player did on Thursday night.
As Anderson was flying in for a breakaway dunk following a steal, Crusaders reserve forward Bobby Capobianco (it even sounds like the name of someone the mob would hire to break someone’s kneecaps) caught up to Anderson and brought him to the floor with a thud after an incredibly dangerous hack.
Capobianco was immediately ejected and could face a possible suspension from the Horizon League. Alas, the karmic forces must have taken the night off in the Motor City. Valpo, down 68–54 at the time of the foul, rallied for an 89–88 victory.
