UNC Football Gets Cool New Uniforms

If you were wondering whether college football players actually appreciate the new uniforms that their schools seemingly generate on a weekly basis, look at North Carolina as Exhibit A in the argument for “yes.”

During a recent Tar Heels team meeting, coach Larry Fedora showed the team a video of the new uniforms they’ll take the field with for the 2013 season. The numbers are bigger and bolder (in black rather than white), the helmets are snazzier and overall they just look more modern. As soon as the uniforms came up in the video, the players went nuts.

Apparently it’s been a busy spring for the marketing folks in charge of Tar Heels football. In addition to the new uniforms, UNC is also billing their “blackout” game against Miami (FL) on October 17th as “Zero Dark Thursday.” It’s a nice play on words involving the Oscar nominated film “Zero Dark Thirty.”

Like Larry Fedora’s first season in Chapel Hill, these new uniforms get high marks. Uniforms Grade: A-
