UF’s Floyd Makes Off With NYSE Gavel

Projected Top 10 NFL draft pick Sharrif Floyd was one of several future pros at the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday for the closing-bell ceremony - at which the former Florida DT made a little bit of history: Being the first person to make off with the gavel used to close trading for the day.

Reportedly, Floyd had permission to take it with him. Somehow we get the sense that it’s because the NYSE brass didn’t know how to say “no” to a 6-foot-3, 303-pounder.

Just as one simply says “You’re welcome” when Pedro Cerrano wants to use your golf club cover as a “hat for bats,” you just say something along the lines of “Of course you can have our gavel” should someone of Floyd’s stature ask for it.
