UF Removes Hernandez All-American Tile

Following the lead of both the New England Patriots and EA Sports, the Florida football program is the latest entity to distance itself from Aaron Hernandez following the tight end’s June arrest on first-degree murder charges.

On Wednesday, the school removed the brick outside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium that commemorates Hernandez’s 2009 First Team All-American season with the Gators. It was replaced with a perfectly blank tile — almost suggesting that, as far as Florida is concerned, Hernandez never existed.

Needless to say, it will be pretty awkward if Hernandez is actually acquitted of the charges. Aaron Hernandez profile
