Tuiasosopo Returns to UW to Coach QBs

When Marques Tuiasosopo was named Washington’s new quarterbacks coach on Saturday, it signified a homecoming in more ways than one.

For starters, the 33-year-old is a native of Woodinville, WA. More important, however, is that Tuiasosopo remains one of the most prolific QBs to ever suit up for the Huskies. In leading UW to their last Rose Bowl win, in 2001, Tuiasosopo set a since-broken school record for total offense in addition to becoming the only FBS player ever with 300 yards passing and 200 yards rushing in the same game.

Tuiasosopo spent the 2012 season as UCLA’s tight ends coach and now gets to coach the position he once starred at.

“I’m very excited to come back home to coach where I played and to help Coach Sarkisian continue to bring the Huskies back to where we belong: at the top of the Pac-12, in the Rose Bowl and competing for championships,” Tuiasosopo said in a press release. “I’m also happy to be coaching the position I love.”

If “Tui” can transform Keith Price and future Husky QBs into stars that are just as prolific as he was, it’ll make for an even happier homecoming. Marques Tuiasosopo profile
