Texas A&M Football: Kevin Sumlin Fires Back at Bob Stoops
Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin took a swing at Bob Stoops Friday after the Oklahoma coach called out A&M’s weak nonconference schedule last week.
“They have Lamar, Rice, SMU and Louisiana-Monroe,” Stoops said. “Boy, those are all a bunch of toughies, right?”
Sumlin went right for the jugular, making a not-so-thinly veiled reference to the Aggies’ 41-13 drubbing of the Sooners in the 2013 Cotton Bowl.
Sumlin - “Coach Stoops has the right to say whatever he wants, but if he wants to play us again we’ll take him up on that.”

The two coaches have a history beyond their current confrontation and Cotton Bowl meeting. Sumlin was a special teams, tight end and wide receivers coach, and co-offensive coordinator under Stoops from 2003-07.
It appears the student has become the master (for now).
