Terps Get Basketball ‘State Pride’ Unis

It turns out that Maryland’s flag as a sports uniform design is much more suited for the hardwood than the gridiron.

The Terrapins men’s basketball team will wear their new Under Armour-designed “State Pride” uniforms when it hosts NC State on Wednesday night. Whenever we hear “State Pride” and “Maryland,” our first instinct is to shield our eyes, but it’s not necessary in this instance.

Underneath the left armpit is the black-and-gold of the Calvert coat of arms, while the right contains the red-and-white of the Crossland family. The placement of the two coats of arms are switched for the sides of the shorts.

To top it off, the coats of arms are also used in the designs of Maryland’s mis-matching sneakers, a clever touch to a surprisingly well-executed uniform.

Not bad, Under Armour and Maryland. Not bad at all. Grade: B+
