‘Shoelace’ One-Hops Tigers First Pitch
Johnny Manziel’s wild first ceremonial pitch at Sunday night’s Texas Rangers game looks a lot better in comparison to what his former counterpart at Michigan, Denard Robinson, uncorked on Tuesday at Detroit’s Comerica Park.
“Shoelace” realized the worst fear that anyone tossing a ceremonial first pitch dreads: bouncing it well short of home plate. By our estimation, the pitch traveled about 55 feet — it’s 60 feet, 6 inches from the pitching rubber to home plate — before hitting the dirt. (At the very least, it was relatively straight.)
Looks like Denard made the right decision in switching from QB to wide receiver in advance of the NFL draft.
